Washer Will Not Spin Out Water

Name: William

City: Grand Rapids

Inquiry Type: Appliance repair question

Comments:
We have a Kenmore washer, model 11020912990. It fills with with water and runs, however when the timer switch advances past rinse to spin, the washer shuts down and will not spin out water.

Hi William,
Thanks for your note.
Check to see if the cold side of the water valve has failed. Set the wash for cold wash and see if it fills. If this is not it, there is a wig wag solenoid assembly on the transmission. Many times a wire will break or the wig wag is defective.

Refrigerator Compressor Repair

Name: David

City: Birmingham

Inquiry Type: Appliance repair question

Comments:
We have a Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model KSCS23INWH00, that was really hot in the back and along the front divider between the freezer and regular compartment for some time, maybe a year or more, but all was well with it working.  Yesterday, we lost all cooling in both the freezer and regular compartment, though it is still running. The back and front divider are at room temperature.  Any thoughts?
Hi David,
Thanks for your note.
I suggest you have a technician look at it. It sounds like the compressor is not running at all.

Dish Detergent Latch Kit

Name: Laura

City: Ann Arbor

Inquiry Type: Appliance repair question

Comments:
My son recently moved into an apt with 3 other college friends, and they are thrilled that it has a dishwasher ....problem is they don't know if it is working properly, and the dish detergent lid will not close. It is an older model Kitchen Aid. Are there areas in the washer that these kids should check to make sure all is in tip top shape without calling the engineer/maintenance worker?  Also, more importantly, the dish detergent top will not shut. Will the dishes become clean if they place a gel pac (Finish orange gel pack) in the bottom of the dishwasher before they start it?  I fear the landlord will not be fixing it in the near future, or at all, and they really want to use the washer rather than hand wash their dirty dishes.

Thank you!  I enjoy listening to you each weekend!

Hi Laura,
Thanks for your note.
There is a latch kit that needs to be replaced inside the door to have the soap door latch. It will work with the gel pack but not as good.
